The Awards
The British Sports Book Awards exist to highlight and give prominence to the very best sports books published in the previous calendar year. The awards were originally conceived as part of the famous National Sporting Club’s banqueting campaign programme. These enjoyable lunches and dinners brought the world of sports writing, publishing and entertainment together. It soon became evident that there was room for a major celebration of the best of British sports writing and the British Sports Book Awards were born.
For 2013 the following awards will be presented at Lord’s Cricket Ground on the 21st May:
Autobiography / Biography of the Year
Cricket Book of the Year
Football Book of the Year
Golf Book of the Year
Horse Racing Book of the Year
Motorsports Book of the Year
Rugby Book of the Year
Illustrated Book of the Year
New Writer of the Year
Best Sports Bookseller
Best Publicity Campaign
After the ceremony the winners of each category (except Bookseller and Publicity Campaign) will become the shortlist for the overall Sports Book of the Year – voted for by the public and announced in the run-up to Father’s Day.
